22 November 2021

On 12 November 2021, in Milan, a panel of five Italian journalists gave a presentation about their experience of the 44-day Artsakh war to a restricted public of political figures and journalists.

Organized by AGBU Milan in collaboration with Stampa Estera Milano, the event entitled “Nagorno Karabakh- Testimonianze ad un anno dalla fine della guerraā€¯ gathered the following journalists: Daniele Bellocchio, Gian Micalessin , Filippo Rossi as well as two journalists who traveled to Artsakh as part of the AGBU Europe YERIA initiative, Francesco Brembati and Luca Steinmann.

The panelists shared their personal experience of the war in the area of Stepanakert, in Kelbajar, Martakert, Hadrut, Aghdam and Shosh. They spoke about their encounters with civilians, officials, military commanders and soldiers in Artsakh as well as with IDP’s and wounded soldiers in Armenia, and presented their viewpoints on the geopolitical situation, one year after the ceasefire.

Followed by a Q&A moderated by Gayane Casnati of the Centro studi e documentazione per la cultura armena and Council member of Europa Nostra, the discussion also tackled the issue of the Armenian cultural heritage under threat in the region.

If on-site attendance was limited due to the Covid-related restrictions, the event was also live-streamed and allowed a larger audience to follow the presentations.
